Knit Swatches and Garments
During my time at SCAD, I had the opportunity to learn the terminology, behavior, and process of knitwear. After taking some time learning the different stitch patterns and techniques, I started experimenting with different swatches. Using multiple yarns to create stripes and gradients, cables, laddering for a more delicate look, and weaving in with different punch cards and textured thick yarns.
For my final garment, I combined five different yarns to create a gradient border at the hem and bottom of the sleeves.
Punch cards, weaving in, ladders, and striping yarns created a unique, lightweight textile with aa variety of textures and small patterns.
The different gauges of the ombre effect resulted in a natural flare at the bottom of the sweater and raglan sleeves for an overall easy and casual wool sweater.
